About Ken

Ken Wood making Catechisis of the Good Shepherd materialsKen and Mary Ann Wood have been crafting Atrium materials for over two decades.

In 1993, Mary Ann was trained as a catechist in the Catechisis of the Good Shepherd. Along with several friends, she started an Atrium program in Damascus, Maryland, and Ken built the initial materials.

As the local program grew, Ken continued to supply them with materials. Word also spread to other Atrium programs, and when Ken retired in 1997, crafting Good Shepherd materials became his "full time hobby."

Today, both Ken and Mary Ann enjoy making Atrium materials in their retirement, and the Wood family workshop is filled with a mix of modern and antique tools. They are frequently joined by family, friends, and neighbors who act as shop assistants.

Materials crafted by the Wood family are currently being used in Atrium programs across the country, even as far as Alaska and Hawaii.

The Woods don't maintain an inventory: every item is made to order, ensuring that catechists receive exactly what they need.
